Shoreland Kennel sold me a puppy with a birth defect

Never purchased a puppy from out of state, but just wondering if this would fall under pennsylvania puppy lemon laws or the state the puppy was from? just something to look into.

yes i agree with you 100% they do breed looking for that one dog! 

as you said..they turn a blind eye (how funny is that!) 

my pup has vision loss already and the birthdefect is called "micropthalmia -('mos) its a birth defect that has no cure and should have been pick-up by breeder as soon as the pups eyes had opened! 

all of these pups in that litter have this gene and should not be bred-the next litter of pups will mostlikely be born blind according to the info i recieved. i feel sorry for the other people who have pups from this litter--they might not have have a pup showing signs but they have the gene---how bad of a breeder--(animal lover???) do you have to be to lower yourself to these bad selling tactics to pawn off a pup and hope no one sees the problem and when you get caught--play the innocent breeder who never saw it or their vet either? how about the partners in the business who had raised this puptill it was sold to me ? she never took care either---the pup had tape worms!! which comes from flea infestation or by eating mouse droppings !! i know i dont have fleas or droppings in my house??? and it also came with 2 eye infections--so tell me why that was? and why do you let a puppy out of your kennel sick?? did someone not want a money pit in their kennel? figured it was better to ship and get my money and run?? 

 

shoreland wanted me to ship pup back to chicago airport and then hire private transport to her house to deliver pup--that whole transport was over $600.00 

 

then they said i could have replacement pup--but i had to pay for another transport back to my house in Pennsylvania!! 

that takes me to (3) transports and a whole lot of money--$over $1,000.00 

 

shoreland never even said they were sorry for what they did to us! they didn't even offer to pay at least 1 transport or some of my $800.00 vet bills!!

I can totally see how you were drawn to this breeder. Checked out their website today just to see what they were advertising. Many people can get drawn into a breeder that advertises great show dogs and beautiful pictures. How could you think that they don't take excellent care of their dogs and the litters they produce?  

Unfortunately, many of these people breed multiple litters looking for one great show quality dog. Sometimes breeding for a great looking show dog means having a blind eye to the defects that may run in the line.  

You'd be surprised how many breeders follow their own "guidelines and standard of care" that fall way below the veterinary standards. In the end it's the pets and the unknowing buyers that suffer.

this defect is inherited from birth and there is no cure--all pups will carry the gene and should not be bred. 

 

I feel sorry for all that have pups from this litter--- 

I tried going thru PAYPAL and BETTER BUSINESS BUREAU OF ILLINOIS where breeder-- 

SHORELAND KENNEL is located and I lost both cases because shoreland kennel has a 48 hour health warranty and contract states they are not held liable for anything once the pup leaves their location ! PUPPYMILL TATICS!! 

IF I WANTED A REPLACEMENT PUP...I HASD TO PAY RETURN TRAVEL COSTS $500.00 !! 

THEN PAY ANOTHER $500.00 TO GET THE NEW PUP TO MY AIRPORT !! 

SHORELAND DIDN'T EVEN MAKE AN EFFORT TO PAY THESE FEE'S...EVEN THOUGH IT WAS THEIR FAULT ! 

SHORELAND KENNEL SENT ME THE PUP WITH 2 EYE INFECTIONS AND TAPE WORMS AND IT LOST ( 8 ) POUNDS FROM THE TIME THE PUPWAS GIVEN A HEALTH CERTIFICATE FROM BREEDER TO WHEN IT WAS SHIPPED TO ME ( 25 LBS TO 17 LBS) I SPENT ALMOST $800.00 DOLLARS IN VET BILLS IN LESS THAN 3 MTHS!! 

DO YOU THINK SHORELAND MADE GOOD ON THAT??? NOPE !

What exactly is the birth defect?

i should have known something was up when she did not send me the contract through the e-mail--she put it on the travel crate and told me to sign it and send the contract back to her !! 

she did say she would send me another pup but i had to pay for shipping sick pup back then pay to ship replacement pup to me!! 

PUPPY MILL PRACTICES !! 

 

I lost almost $2,000.00 between purchase and vet bills--not even taking into consideration the upkeep since december 

 

This 8 month old puppy still eats it's *** and dosent even go on wee-wee pads yet ! forget going outside !! this dog also does its business in its crate 2-3 times a night and them lays in it and eats it!! it needs a bath everymorning ! 

it has never been trained !! 

does anybody think PUPPY MILL?? no trainning--tape worms--eye infections-- and birth defect of 1 eye !!! YEP.....
